Santos confirmed on Friday (18) that Neymar suffered a new left thigh injury during the match against Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday night (16), in his second match since the return to the pitch after more than 40 days away.
The club did not report a deadline for the return of the 33 -year -old, with a contract with Alvinegro until June.
Away since early March already because of a left thigh injury that left him outside the semifinals of the Paulista Championship, Neymar returned to the team entering Santos defeat to Fluminense on Sunday (13).
In the match against Atlético Mineiro, when he was climbing again among the 11 holders, he felt new discomfort on 32 minutes and left the field crying.
The club explained in a statement published on social networks being a new lesion in the left thigh, but in another muscle.
“After recovered from muscle injury, and still in training for muscle mass gain, player Neymar Jr returned to the games and, in the first half of Santos FC’s victory over Atletico MG, felt a new discomfort in his left thigh, underwent image exams and was found a new injury, now in the semi -manned muscle,” said the club. “As for the previous injury, in another muscle, there was no recurrence.”
The club also said that Neymar has started treatment at CT Rei Pelé and will continue with muscle strengthening work, “always trying to reach better muscle rates in order to avoid further occurrences.”
“The player will be reevaluated periodically for follow -up and new definitions of treatment,” says the statement.
