Secretary alerts to trigger in cases of severe respiratory syndrome in Rio Branco

On Saturday morning (19), Rio Branco Municipal Secretary of Health, Rennan Biths, made a statement to the population about the significant increase in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) recorded in the Acre capital. The manager showed concern mainly with the growing number of hospitalizations between children.

According to Biths, only in recent days, 211 hospitalizations related to the disease have been accounted for, which requires extra attention from society. “We are facing a significant increase in hospitalizations, especially children. This scenario requires care and extra attention of all of us,” he said.

Given the situation, the city of Rio Branco intensified the measures to reinforce the municipal health network. According to the secretary, since the beginning of 2024, 186 new professionals have been hired and another 290 servers are in the final stages of call to work in public units.

Among the groups most vulnerable to severe acute respiratory syndrome are children aged 0 to 6 years, elderly over 60 and people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and heart problems.

The secretary ended the warning reinforcing the importance of prevention and collective collaboration. “The health of Rio Branco is a responsibility of all of us. With prevention and care, we will overcome this challenge. It has the city of Rio Branco,” he concluded.
