Truck, who comes to Venice for only one day, from Friday again pay a fee to enter this tourist sought after. Informed AP, writes TASR.
Venice started these fees last April. One -day hikers paid on certain days for joining Venice five euros as part of an experiment to help the domestic residents of the historic city. Those who did not have tickets threatened fines from 50 to 300 euros within random checks at key entrance locations.
Venice is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world, but many domestic residents complain about crowds. At the time of the peak season, about 100,000 tourists spend night in the city, while tens of thousands of others come for only one day, many of the cruise ships.
The main goal of the project is to discourage one -day hikers who contribute to the overpopulation of the city – the world -famous works of art, bridges and canals. Venice has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
For 2025, the city plans to collect fees at the same amount as last year 54 days – in April, May, June and July, while the ticket will be needed from 8:30 to 4 pm local time. Accommodated visitors who already pay the tourist tax on overnighting are exempt as well as residents.
Last year, this measure brought the city 2.5 million euros. “Some say we are doing this to make money, but the truth is that we have spent more than we accepted, so we hope that this year we will create a small surplus that will be invested to reduce taxes for Venetians,” said Deputy Mayor of Venice Michele Zuin, who is responsible for finance.
