Responsible for commanding one of the largest truck body manufacturers in the country, Marcelo Facchini sees in leadership formation the secret to ensuring the continuity of a business that is already going through three generations.
At the head of the family business that exceeded $ 4 billion in annual revenues, he believes that good management is not only measured by numbers, but for the ability to prepare better people than the manager himself – something he considers essential to the unpredictability of life.
“I was three months away from an accident, and the company continued to work,” Marcelo said in an interview with the podcast From zero to topfrom Infomoney. “Our function as leaders is to empower, because we will not be here forever.” In the conversation, he also talked about the challenges of engaging the new generation at work and reflected on the role of technology in the transformation of professional and personal relationships.

The executive acknowledges that young people today seek fast results and face initial difficulties in the market. “The internet has changed everything. The information is very fast, which generates this immediacy. But I believe they will change over time. We were also immediate in the past,” he ponders. In the midst of these changes, he highlights the importance of coexistence and eye to eye: “Online meeting is practical, but the face -to -face is irreplaceable.”

Out of office
Out of office hours, Marcelo values the family. He likes to travel, barbecue in his farm and play video games with his son Luca. It also tries, whenever possible, to disconnect from the phone. “During the day, I get a lot of messages. When I get home, there are 50 not read. I try to keep the focus, but it’s hard.”
Asked which advice he would give himself as a young man, he is straightforward: study, enable himself, but work. “Knowing the theorist is good, but the practical is even better. When I decided to stay in Rio Preto and reconcile the two, I won a lot.” Marcelo is also a defender of the passion for what is done. “If you don’t love what you do, change. You will never be a good professional if you don’t like your activity. I love what I do, I work with joy. I have the ‘Facchini’ from the heart.”

Connection with the company
The connection with the company comes early. Grandson of the founder and son of Rubens Facchini, the “Rubão”, he grew up attending the factory, throwing the ball and rolling a roller cart between the sheds. “My father transformed Facchini what she is. We only followed his footsteps, with a lot of respect for the company’s DNA.”
When looking back, he recognizes that he might have spent more time outside Brazil after college to expand the worldview – or even lived for a while in Sao Paulo. Still, I would not exchange life at the factory for an office. “My place is in production. It’s in the blood.”
Marcelo also shared his headboard: The fourth dimensionby Korean Pastor David Yonggi Cho. “It’s a small but impactful book. It changes the way we pray, ask and thank you. I recommend it to those who need something, whether faith or direction.
