Guarujá registers in 6 hours expected rain all April, says Civil Defense

The city of Guarujá, in the interior of São Paulo, recorded this Saturday, between 17:30 and 23h30, 191 millimeters of rain. The volume is more than expected for the entire month of April, according to the State Civil Defense. Since the beginning of the month, the coastal city has recorded 282 mm of precipitation.

Earlier, the Civil Defense issued an extreme alert to the area of ​​Morro da Barreira do João Guarda, also in the city. The authorities called on a warning siren and guided the population of the area to leave their homes.

Residents are housed in a municipal school near the region. Civil Defense Teams follow in the affected areas.

On social networks, residents of the city published scenes of the disorder caused by the rain.

At ABC, in the capital’s metropolitan region, residents of Diadema, São Caetano do Sul and São Bernardo suffered with flooded streets and overflowing streams. Mauá, also in Greater São Paulo, recorded landslides. There are no confirmed victims so far.
