Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday (19) that he instructed military personnel to intensify pressure on Hamas. This after the Palestinian militant group rejected last week an Israeli proposal of a new temporary truce.
The radical group wants an agreement to end the war in exchange for hostage release.
In a televised speech, Netanyahu said that although war is high, Israel has no “another choice but to continue fighting for its own existence until victory.”
Egyptian mediators have worked to restore the ceasefire, which Israel abandoned last month. The last truce resulted in the release of 38 hostages.
Hamas said that through an agreement ending the war.
Israel has bombarded Gaza with the ceasefire. Palestinian health officials said the military intensified attacks throughout the Gaza Strip.
Only this Saturday (19), at least. In 48 hours, the death toll is 92 people.
59 hostages are still believed to be stuck in Gaza, less than half of them alive.
Since resumed with the attacks, Israel de Gaza and ordered the withdrawal of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
Residents fear that this is a step to permanently deponent parts of the region. The Ministry of Health of Gaza states that 1,600 people were killed last month.
