Both sides of the conflict were accused of violating a ceasefire that was supposed to last from Saturday to Sunday evening.

Russian President Vladimir Putin did not issue a regulation on the extension of the ceasefire he declared on Saturday in the fighting in Ukraine, and therefore will end at midnight of the Moscow time. This was stated on Sunday afternoon by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, TASR reports according to Sky News report.

The spokesperson’s statement brought by the Russian news agency TASS came just a few hours before the “Easter ceasefire” expired. Both sides of the conflict were accused of violating it.

Putin announced on Saturday that the Russian side will stop all military operations from 5 pm to Sunday 23.00. He also ordered the army to respond to any violation of this ceasefire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greeny, after a few hours, responded to the Russian proposal and said that Ukraine would follow the “Easter ceasefire”, but also respond appropriately to every Russian attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that its forces had taken retaliatory steps after Ukraine continued to attack, even in Russian border areas where civilians died according to the department.

However, Ukraine also reported a violation of the ceasefire. Greeding on social networks wrote that “the Russian army is trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, while in some areas it is still continuing isolated attempts to advance and causes Ukraine losses”.
