Thousands of people left the street today in New York and other large cities in the United States on the second day of ‘anti-Trump’ protests within two weeks, according to France-Presse (AFP) news agency.
In the posters wielded by protesters in New York, phrases like “no king in America” and “resist tyranny”, along with images of US President Donald Trump, with a mustache in style of what the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler used.
“Democracy is in great danger,” Holocaust survivors descended to AFP, 73 -year -old Kathy Vali, arguing that what her parents told her about the rise of Nazism in Europe in the 1930s “is happening” [nos Estados Unidos]”.
For this American, “the difference with the other fascists (…) is that Trump is too stupid to be effective, and his team is divided.”
Protesters focused particularly on the Trump administration’s anti-immigration policy, at a time when the Supreme Court suspended the expulsions of immigrants based on a 1798 law on “foreign enemies.”
“Immigrants are welcome here” was one of the phrases sung by protesters in New York.
Another of the US cities that were today the scene of ‘Anti-Trump’ demonstrations was the country’s capital, Washington DC, where the White House, the US President’s residence and office is located.
The protests were organized by Group 50501, a number that represents the 50 demonstrations in the 50 states of the country and resulted in a unique movement of opposition to the Republican multimillionaire.
The movement is “a quick and decentralized response to the undemocratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies”, read on the 50501 website.
According to the group, about 400 demonstrations were planned for today.
It is difficult to know how many people participated in the demonstrations, given that many police departments refuse to provide numbers.
