The US Vice President met today with the Prime Minister of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Foreign Minister Paul Richard Galagher.
In a Vatican’s announcement it is emphasized that “During the friendly conversation it was pleased with good bilateral relations and the joint effort was confirmed in favor of protecting the right to religious freedom and freedom of consciousness.”
At the same time, it is emphasized that “There has been an exchange of views on the international situation, in particular with regard to countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular emphasis on immigrants, refugees, people who have been deprived of freedom, and other issues have been discussed.”.
“Finally, the expectation of a serene cooperation was expressed between the state and the Catholic Church in the United States and recognized its valuable contribution to the most vulnerable people.”concludes the announcement.
