The Professor of Neurology at the University of São Paulo (USP), Ricardo Nitrini, spoke about the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease during his participation in the program CNN Vital Signs. Nitrini emphasized that while research has advanced, it is not yet possible to speak of healing for this neurological condition.

According to the expert, the best strategy is to focus on preventing other health problems that can affect the brain. “If the individual has the brain well prepared, even if he has Alzheimer’s disease, it will take time to speak out,” Nitrini told Dr. Kalil.
The neurologist recommends a holistic approach to maintaining brain health. This includes regular exercise, adequate control of conditions such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and diabetes, as well as the continuous stimulus of intellectual activity.
“All this to keep the brain in good condition so that if the disease, which manifests less intensely,, Nitrini said.
The expert added that while current options will be limited, there is hope that new medications and approaches may emerge in the coming years, allowing a more effective intervention against Alzheimer’s.
