China rejects any business agreements between states that would be at its expense

On Monday, China strongly spoke to other countries to conclude any trade agreements at the expense of its interests. At the same time, she warned that she would accept “reciprocal countermeasures” against such states. According to Reuters, TASR reports this.

In this way, China responded to reports that US President Donald Trump’s administration is going to put pressure on other countries to limit the Beijing trade in exchange for customs exceptions.

Trump introduced in early April the so -called. reciprocal duties for imports to the US. However, he postponed their validity by 90 days for most of the world, including the European Union. The only exception was China, whose duties still picked up to 145 percent. Beijing answered 125 percent of the US goods by introducing duties.

The rest of the world suffers duties

Unlike China, the rest of the world is burdened with a 10 % duty by the US. Several countries use a 90-day delay for negotiations with the United States. These talks about reducing duties are in parallel with the Washington Business War against Beijing, the agency wrote.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce warned countries on Monday’s statement not to strive for an agreement with the US that would endanger China’s interests. “The concessions will not bring peace and we will not respect compromises,” the spokesman said.

“Trying for one’s own temporary selfish interests at the expense of the interests of others is to want to withdraw the skin from the tiger,” he added, pointing out that such an approach “will ultimately fail on both sides and damage others”.

Threatened with retaliatory measures

“China is definitely against any party to reach an agreement at the expense of China’s interests. If such a situation occurs, China will never accept it and will definitely accept reciprocal countermeasures,” he stressed.

Trump announced on Thursday that the US and China were negotiating with duties and expressing the belief that the world’s largest economies could reach an agreement and end the trade war.

“Yes, we are talking to China. I would say they have already spoken several times. I think we will make a very good deal with them,” the US President said.

Although Beijing called for dialogue, he did not confirm negotiations with Washington and had previously promised to fight in the trade war “until the end”.
