Interest rate on housing credit drops for the 14th consecutive month in March

The interest rate implicit in housing credit retreated in March for the 14th consecutive month, to 3.735%, the lowest value since June 2023 and 9.5 points base than in February, IA has announced on Monday.

“The interest rate implicit in housing credit descended to 3.735%, lower 9.5 points based on the previous month, accumulating a reduction of 92.2 base points from the maximum reached in January 2024 (4.657%),” says the National Statistics Institute ().

In contracts entered into in the last three months, the interest rate has dropped from 3.200% in February to 3.048% in March, a monthly decline of 15.2 base points and an accumulated decrease of 133.2 base points from October 2023.

The average installment was set at 398 euros in March, which represents a descent of two euros compared to the previous month and five euros compared to March 2024.
