It cannot be said that the death of Pope Francis had come unexpectedly: the 88-year-old Pontifex has been offended for months, had to be treated for five weeks because of a life-threatening pneumonia in the hospital and then, despite the good and rehabilitation program prescribed by the doctors. But Francis had personally donated the blessing “Urbi et Orbi” the day before his death and then turned a round in the papamobile on St. Peter’s Square to the delight of the tens of thousands of believers. And so his sudden death on the morning of Easter Monday was a shock for many.
