For this reason, if you want to take care of your health, it is worth revising your diet. Seniors should limit some products to reduce the risk of diseases and enjoy good health for years.

Freemade, bacon, blue cheese fat, red meat, cream or lard – all this should be heavily limited in the senior diet. These foods contain a lot of fats that can accumulate in the body. First of all, watch out for saturated fatty acids, i.e. also animal origin. The daily demand for fats in seniors is about 25 percent. calories, but often seniors exceed this value. And this leads to the development of various diseases, including hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and hypertension, which can seriously affect health, lowering the quality of life, and shortening them.

In addition, seniors should not reach for fast food and highly processed products, including Cookies, chips, carbonated sweetened drinks or fries. Instead of fats, it is definitely better to enrich your diet with carbohydrates. We will find them, among others: in whole -grain bread, brown rice, bran, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Seniors may have a big problem with the lover of dishes – with age we can experience the disorders of the taste of taste, which means that normally salted dishes may seem unsaturated. This quickly leads to increased salt intake and related problems. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 5-6 g of salt per day. Research conducted in 2009 by IŻŻ in Warsaw indicated that in Poland it is on average slightly above the norm, 7 g per day. There can be much more in seniors.

Too much salt consumption conducts, among others for blood hypertension, which increases the risk of strokes and dementia. It can also lead to cognitive impairment. Salt can also increase the risk of kidney stones and negatively affect the condition of the bone. Instead of this spice, it is worth reaching for others, among others Paprika or garlic.

Seniors should also remember to provide the body with the right amount of water – a minimum is 1.5 liters per day, but especially in the summer it is worth drinking much more.
