In his last will, Pope Francis expressed his wish to be buried in a simple, unparent tomb in the Roman Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. His last will Vatican published on Monday evening, TASR reports according to AFP.
“Miserando Atque Eligendo (regrettable but chosen – bishop motto of Francis, note TASR). On behalf of the Holy Trinity. Amen. With the feeling that the twilight of my earthly life is approaching, and with a living hope in eternal life I want to express my last will only as far as the place of my burying”He wrote in the will of 29 June 2022.
“I have always entrusted my life and priestly and bishop’s ministry to the mother of our Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Therefore, I ask that my earthly remains to vaccinate in the anticipation of the Day of Resurrection in the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore,” wrote the Pope. He tried to visit this important Catholic sanctuary before every trip and on every road he pontificose.
He determined exactly the place in the side boat of the basilica and attached a drawing for better clarity. He stated that the cost of the funeral was agreed in advance. “The tomb must be in the ground; simple, without special decoration and with the only inscription: Franciscus,” added. At the end of the last will, he asked the Lord to “give a deserved reward to those who loved me and would continue to pray for me”.
“The suffering that has become present in the last part of my life, I sacrificed the Lord for world peace and brotherhood among nations,” he said in his last will.
