Ukraine President Volodimir Zelenski accused Russian military forces of continuing attacks on Easter that the promised yesterday
Just hours after the Russian president’s announcement, air alarms were repeated in Ukraine, where authorities, who had pledged to adhere to the ceasefire, denounced its violation by the Russians.
Zelenski announced via Facebook that shells and drone attacks continued throughout the night.
“In general, from Easter morning, we can say that the Russian army is trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, but in some places it does not abandon individual efforts to promote and cause losses in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president wrote. Ukraine will respond “symmetrically” to any such attack, Volodimir Zelenski said.
What does Russia support
For its part, Moscow has announced that Russian forces were “repelled” Ukrainian attacks at night. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced attacks on Russian positions in areas of Donetsk.
The ceasefire was announced by Putin at a time when the US government’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine is in a deadlock.
Volodimir Zelenski clarified that Ukraine’s proposal to extend the ceasefire for 30 days after Easter remains in force.
