Pope Francis’ body, who at dawn on Monday (21/4), will be placed in the coffin around 3 pm (Brasília time), during the mass in suffrage to the pontiff-celebrated with the objective of intercede for the soul of the dead.
It will begin the first rites after the Pope’s death in the Basilica of St. John of Lateran in Rome. The ceremony will be conducted by Cardinal Baldo Reina.

- Jorge Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 17, 1936, son of Italian immigrants.

- Pope Francis taught at the Faculty of St. Michael and obtained a doctorate in Theology from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
The pontiff died at dawn – morning in Italy – at his Vatican residence. The religious faced a complicated recovery of a serious picture of pneumonia.
He was hospitalized for about 40 days after being diagnosed with. This Saturday (19/4), he appeared in public, in the Basilica of St. Peter, in the Vatican. On Easter Sunday (20/4), made a public appearance in St. Peter’s Square to bless the faithful.
After the suffrage, at 3 pm, the rite of finding of Francisco’s death, led by Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, camerlengo of the Catholic Church, will be made. Then the Pope’s body will be placed in the coffin. In addition to members of the Church, they should attend Francisco’s family ceremony.
With the death of Pope Francis the liturgical, defined by the Pontiff himself in April 2024 and officially published in November of the same year.
