Plant cuttings are not complicated, but the species may vary slightly. But the basis is the same for many. Clean cut, stimulat and moisture will help the successful rooting of the cutlet.
How to choose and prepare cuttings
Plant cuttings are one of the ways to reproduce. Although it is not easy to propagate all plants in this way, it is one of the variants that have a very high success in most plants. Although most of the rules apply to all cuttings, different plants may have different special demands and also procedures suitable for cuttings.
In general, the cutlet needs to be removed from a plant that is not only in good condition but also actively growing. This means that the sap is already flowing. The cut should be made with a clean, sharp tool. It is important to not support the end of the cuttings or the twigs from which it comes. The length of the cuttings should be about 10 to 15 cm and at least one pair of leaves. The size of the suitable cuttings may vary according to the plant. Some species can take root in any part of the schnitzel, but generally better spices where there is a eye or knee or a leaf bed. Here the plant naturally excludes hormones supporting growth.
The cuttings leaves should be reduced to two top or even reduce them. This is done, for example, in hydrangeas to avoid unnecessarily large evaporation leaves. In case of multiplication of large -leaved ficuses, it is possible to roll up a leaf, for example, to reduce the evaporation.
In some plants, reproduction may also look as simply as in this post from the youtub channel by Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP).

You can stimulate cuttings to root
Many houseplants can also be cut. You can also encounter species that flow out of the wound white latex. In general, it is preferable if such a cut dries, and only then try to take root. If too fresh cut of these plants gets into contact with moisture, it will start to degrade and rot very soon. It is similar for plants that you choose to spill in water. Some species prefer to dry the cut and only the subsequent placement in the water. To ensure success, it is advisable to change the water regularly.
If you take a cutlet from plants that will spice in a light, such as a sandy substrate, the stimulation of the cuttings is also important. You can treat growth hormones in powder. This powder will not only ensure rooting support, but it is also often herbicidal and prevents rot.
For example, ground cinnamon is an alternative to such an industrially produced stimulant. Even ground cinnamon contains substances that support growth and at the same time act as an antiseptic. The alternative can also be honey or gel aloe vera.
If the stimulants are used, it is sufficient to soak the cuttick into a powder or liquid and then stick it into the substrate.
Appropriate conditions for rooting
The substrate for rooting cuttings should meet optimal conditions. In any case, it must be light and well drained, but slightly moist. It is precisely to increase moisture is often used a hatch or drag with foils or plastic bag to create a microclimate that contributes to rooting.
The cuttings stuck in the substrate and protected by a hatch or plastic should be placed in a bright place, but beyond the reach of direct sunlight. The optimum temperature for rooting is 20 to 25 ° C. After a few weeks, the roots should be visible on the cuttings and the buds with new leaves will also appear.
