The number of unemployment benefits rose 4.9% in March in homologous terms, totaling 204,937, but retreated 3.2% for a maximum of three years reached in February, according to social security data released.
In view of the homologous period, there was an increase of 9,578 beneficiaries, which represents a 4.9% rise, while the 3.2% chain decrease corresponded to a decrease of 6,832 beneficiaries, details the synthesis of the Strategy and Planning Office (GEP) of the Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security.
According to data provided on the website, the chain retreat of the number of unemployment benefits registered in March interrupted a cycle of four consecutive monthly increases, but the total has been maintained since January above the 200,000 beneficiaries barrier, having reached the highest value since January 2022: 211,769 beneficiaries, compared to 225,410 in the first month of 2022.
Regarding unemployment allowance, the number of beneficiaries totaled 163,371 in March, a homologous increase of 6.6% (plus 10,163), but a chain decrease of 2.1% (less 3,465 beneficiaries).
According to GEP, the average monthly value of the unemployment allowance in March was 689.72 euros, representing a positive annual variation of 7.7%.
Regarding the number of beneficiaries of the initial unemployment allowance, it fell 3.6% compared to March 2024 (less 402 processed subsidies) and retreated 8.0% compared to February (an increase of 953 beneficiaries), totaling 10,892.
Already the subsequent social allowance covered 21,672 beneficiaries in March, which corresponds to a homologous reduction of 2.4% (less 525 beneficiaries), but an increase of 0.2% in monthly terms (plus 52 beneficiaries).
Like what has happened, unemployment benefits were mostly requested by women, corresponding to 114,616 beneficiaries (55.9%) and 90,321 beneficiaries (44.1%).
