Boston Marathon Winners take $ 150,000 each

Kenyans Sharon Lededi, in the female, and John Korir, in the male, came ahead in the American race

Kenya Sharon Ledi and compatriot John Korir won first place at the Boston Marathon, held on Monday (21.abr.2025).

The event distributed a total of $ 1.1 million in prizes. Lededi has established a new female record in the US race. Each received $ 150,000.

Lakedi finished the 42,195 km from one of the most traditional marathons in the world at 2h17min22s. By the record, she received a $ 50,000 bonus. Kenya won the New York Marathon in 2022.

John Korir, winner of the Chicago Marathon in 2024, crossed the finish line with the time of 2h4min45s. This was the fastest time in Boston since the record of also Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai in 2011.

In the wheelchair category, Marcel Hug, from Switzerland, won his 8th victory in 10 years in the men’s race. Susannah Scaroni, from the United States, won in the women’s category.
