After the death of the CNBB (National Conference of Bishops of Brazil) decided to postpone the General Assembly of Brazilian Catholic Bishops, which would take place between April 30 and May 9, in Aparecida (SP).
But “with Easter hope,” the council members chose not to hold the meeting this year, before “the complexity of finding new dates and places.”
The next edition will take place only in 2026, between April 15 and 24.
This year’s meeting, if held, would coincide with the period of mourning for the death of the Pope and the organization of the conclave that will choose his replacement, in which seven Brazilian cardinals are entitled to vote. One of them is CNBB President Dom Jaime Spengler.
