The lawyer and former unqualler Sebastião Coelho told the ministers of the First Class of (Supreme Federal Court) that the former advisor to International Affairs of (PL) is a “brilliant boy” and that there is no cause to make him defendant for the coup plot.
The statement was given during the lawyer’s oral argument for participating in the attempted coup at the end of 2022.
Sebastião Coelho even compared Bolsonaro’s former advisor to the apostle Paul and Jesus Christ to say that he has suffered unfairly. “Filipe Martins awaits this court today to listen to his defense and that this process of crucifixion that Jesus suffered and Filipe Martins has been suffering since February 8, 2024 has to end today. Your excellencies have the power to end it,” he said.
“There is no cause to receive the complaint against Filipe Martins. He is a brilliant boy, who at 31 years old held the position of international advisor of the President of the Republic, even today that is currently held by Minister Celso Amorim, 82, has been ministers of two folders,” he said.
Sebastião Coelho argued that citations made to Filipe Martins in the testimonies of Lieutenant Colonel and former Army Commander General Freire Gomes are vacancies and inaccurate. The “possibly” advisor was at the coup meeting, says the lawyer after reading the general’s statement, nicknamed by the lawyer of “hero of the time”.
“There is no single message from Filipe Martins to anyone in these records,” said Sebastião. “PGR may argue that the Federal Police were unable to break the secrecy of Filipe Martins. But Cid handed over their cell phones and has no single Cid message to Filipe Martins, there is absolutely nothing.”
The lawyer also pointed out that Filipe Martins was accused for allegedly elaborated the technical argument for a coup draft. According to the Federal Police, the document was presented to Bolsonaro by Martins, Father José Eduardo and lawyer Amauri Saad – the last two were not reported.

He stated that the Court has already rejected the preliminary suspicion of ministers, incompetence of the class to judge the case, the illegality of the simultaneous presentation of answers from the accused and the whistleblower, the impediment of access to evidence, as well as the nullity of Mauro Cid’s denunciation.
Gonet quickly went through points presented by the defenses of the accused of the nucleus under analysis in this session. According to him, among the different allegations, Filipe Martins was filed against what he called the bias of PGR.
“Just as with the ministers, the procedural means should be another. From everyone, no minimally connected elements were presented. The nonconformity of the defense by commenting on pre -trial detention does not mirror the legal hypotheses,” he replied.
The first oral argument of the defenses was made by lawyer Danilo David Ribeiro, defender of the PF delegate and former member of the Ministry of Justice Fernando Oliveira.
He said the defense “was surprised by the complaint involving facts from January 8”, and Fernando had been indicted by the Federal Police only for the investigation of the use of the Federal Highway Police (PF) to make Lula’s (PT) voters to go to the second round of 2022 elections.
“Fernando was indicted for the crime of the article Code of Criminal Procedure, which is the crime of political violence in the elections. This was the indictment. All our defense in two years of inquiry was made in this regard,” said the lawyer.
