The Federal Supreme Court (STF) ruled last week that it is not necessary to stay full time for physical education professionals in establishments focused on physical activity in Rio Grande do Sul. The determination in question, which only goes to practices that do not represent exceptional health and physical integrity of the practitioners, made the following discussion in social networks: is it necessary to be registered with the Regional Council of Physical Education (CREF) to be personal trainer?
The theme was the subject of disagreements and questions last year, when the Brazilian Confederation of Bodybuilding and Bodybuilding (CBMF) launched an 18 -month vocational course for those who want to work exclusively in the bodybuilding room.
CEO of CBMF, Marcos Vinícius points out that the Confederation has the right to form its own coaches and uses football as an example: “The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has specialized technicians in this sport, as well as other modalities. Why should bodybuilding be different? Bodybuilding is not a sport? If you read what is definition of sport, it fits”.
“The guy in football will study the elements of this sport: tactic, fundamentals, etc. What are the principles of bodybuilding (thinking of a bodybuilder)? Performing the movement, choice of exercises, training volume, cargo progression, etc. Everything that involves bodybuilding training within a specific purpose,” he adds.
According to the Confederation CEO, the initiative “aims at the person who wants to be exclusively a personal trainer, to be a sports coach focused on the bodybuilding area”.
“If you are sure of the area you want to work on, you do not necessarily have to go through four years of course learning subjects that, in many cases, you will not use in practice. There is no traditional physical education course to deepen on all subjects, it is a very large area. If so, the course would last decades. After graduating? You want to be exclusively a personal trainer? with Marcos.
In addition to the two years that the institution has spent on the formulation of the course and the assembly of its curriculum, classes also address themes that go beyond bodybuilding itself: “We also emphasize the most bureaucratic part of the profession: What do you do after graduating? How to open grade? How to put yourself in the job market.”
Marcos points out that the intention of CBMF is not to put his course as an alternative to the Faculty of Physical Education: “We take what is passed on bodybuilding at university and deepen, extends the theme (…) Regarding bodybuilding, you will not see, in four years of college, the same thing you will see in a year and a half of our course.
Finally, the professional emphasizes the importance of the Faculty of Physical Education: “It is paramount and has a gigantic contribution to society. It has to be applauded. A physical educator has the ability to change the lives of many people.”
