The First Class of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) begins to judge on Tuesday (22) the second core of accused of participating in the attempted coup after the 2022 elections.
The Court will decide whether to accept the complaint of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against Fernando de Sousa Oliveira, Filipe Garcia Martins, Marcelo Costa Câmara, Marília Ferreira de Alencar, Mário Fernandes and Silvinei Vasques.
Moraes authorized him to follow the direct judgment of the plenary of the First Class. He, however, was prohibited from circulating through the federal capital and filming or photographing the trial – a request made by his defense and denied by the minister.
Bolsonaro also accompanied the trial he concluded with the admissibility of the complaint against the former president. It showed seriousness, tension and even sleep when watching the session.
STF Minister Cristiano Zanin, president of the first class, reserved three sessions for the trial: at 9:30 am and at 2 pm today, and at 9:30 am tomorrow. After reading the complaint, the lawyers will present the defenses and, after that, the five collegiate ministers will decide whether or not the six reported.
The PGR told the complaint of scam attempt in five nuclei. Members of the first group, which includes former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and close allies such as former ministers Walter Braga Netto, Augusto Heleno and Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, Já.

Who will also be in person at the trial is the retired judge Sebastião Coelho, who defends Martins. He was the lawyer who spoke in the STF plenary telling the court ministers that they were “hated” people in much of the country.
Coelho intends to raise some of the preliminary issues already rejected by the first class in the judgment of ‘core 1’, as an alleged incompetence of the Supreme Court to judge the accused and the suspicion of ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Cristiano Zanin and Flávio Dino. He will also ask the magistrates to analyze the geolocation of his client, which would serve as proof that he did not get involved in the attempted coup.
Denunciation
The lawyer still says he had good expectations regarding the trial and who sees openness so that the complaint against his client is not accepted by the ministers. Coelho criticized Mauro Cid’s denunciation and said that several people would be being harmed because of the statements, in his view, without evidence of the former Bolsonaro orders.

As for the disagreements with Moraes, the lawyer states that the “protagonist” of the trial will be Martins and that he has “nothing personal” against the minister. “This trial session is live, we do not know what can happen, but my intention is to go to work. We have to focus on work,” he said. “Minister Alexandre de Moraes will be a judge, as it has to be, and I will be a lawyer. There is no public clash issues,” he added.
Strong ally
In the government of the former president, Martins was advisor to international matters of the presidency. Aligned with the Bolsonaro clan flags, he gained notoriety in March 2021 after being caught in the Senate a gesture that was considered similar to one usually made by white supremacists.
Martins spent six months in prison preventively during the conduct of the scammer acts inquiry. The justification was that he would have tried to escape Brazil to escape the investigation. The name of the former advisor was on a list of presidential plane passengers that took off to Orlando, in the United States, on December 30, 2022. The defense later argued that he did not board and was in Brazil that day, and the former advisor was released.

The PGR imputed to him to make one of the minutes of the coup, the one that provided for the arrest of STF ministers Alexandre de Moraes and Gilmar Mendes, as well as Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) then president of the Senate.
Obstruction
Silvinei Vasques, between April 2021 and December 2022, was the Director General of the Federal Highway Police (PRF). Since January this year, he has been secretary of Economic Development and Innovation in São José, a municipality neighboring Florianópolis (SC). Vasques is accused of interfering with the 2022 presidential elections. He is suspected of coordinating blitze on federal highways that would have difficult to traffic voters, especially in the Northeast, the electoral stronghold of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT). By supposed obstruction of justice, he was arrested preventively between August 2023 and August 2024.
Taken
Another accused, the Brigade General Mário Fernandes was executive secretary of the General Secretariat of the Presidency in Bolsonaro management, and even headed the folder during the period. He was also an advisor to former Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello. According to the investigation of the coup attempt, Fernandes is the author of the plan “Green and Yellow Dagger”, which contained a detail to execute, in December 2022, Moraes, Lula and Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB). The action expected the operational support of “black kids”, as the recruits of the Brazilian Army special forces are known.

Fernandes has been arrested preventively since November 19 last year. The arrest was ordered by Moraes after the Federal Police (PF) obtained messages in which he incited undemocratic actions that should be led by Bolsonaro.
Also on the list are the army colonel Marcelo Costa Câmara former special Bolsonaro advisor; Delegate Marília Ferreira de Alencar, former intelligence director of the Secretariat of Integrated Operations of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), and the delegate Fernando de Sousa Oliveira, who was director of operations of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security in the Jair Bolsonaro government.
