Coach Tite, who was considered the favorite to assume the position of coach of Corinthians, vacant since the dismissal of Argentine Ramón Díaz, declined the invitation to resume the command of Alvinegro.
According to the club, the parties were very close to the hit and the coach was expected to sign the contract and already command the team’s work on Tuesday (22).
“However, by a personal decision, Tite decided to pause his career momentarily to take care of his physical and mental health,” Corinthians said in a statement.
“I understand that there are times when it is necessary to understand that, as a human being, I can be vulnerable and admit it will surely become stronger,” said the coach.
“I am in love with what I do and I will continue to be, but talking to my family and watching the signs that my body was emitting, I decided that the best to do now is to interrupt my career to take care of me for the time I need,” added Tite.
The coach’s last work was at Flamengo, between October 2023 and September 2024. At the time, when he took the Red-Black, the coach caused a revolt among Corinthians fans, for refusing months before the invitation to return to the East Zone Club.
Tite led Corinthians in three passages, the most victorious of them between 2010 and 2013, when the team won the Copa Libertadores, the Club World Cup and the two -time Brazilian championship.
The coach acknowledged that there was a conversation in progress with Corinthians, “but she will need to be paralyzed by a difficult but necessary decision.”
“Corinthians wishes a prompt recovery to the champion coach of America and the world for the club.”
The club now goes back to the search for a new coach to lead the team in the Brazilian Championship. Dorival Júnior, recently fired from the Brazilian team, is one of the names quoted for the position.
