Τουρκία: Μπαράζ σεισμών στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, 6,2 Ρίχτερ ο ισχυρότερος

A strong size of 6.2 Richter occurred on Wednesday at the Marmara Sea, with the vibration being particularly noticeable in the surrounding areas.

Seismologist Akis Zelentis, in his post, has addressed a rigorous warning of the need for increased attention in Constantinople, highlighting the area’s great danger. As he characteristically pointed out, “of course requires great care for the kingdom”, and reminded that there is not a single scientist in the world who does not consider certain that there will be a strong earthquake in the future.

He noted that, in one of the most active seismic arches in the area, as it is a continuation of the well -known northern Anatolian rift.

He also refers to the northern Aegean trench rupture, which is an extension of the northern Anatolia rift and passes through sea areas south of Samothrace and Halkidiki, as well as north of Lemnos and Agios Efstratios. Although he stressed that the likelihood of being affected by the Greek side is very small, it does not cease to be existing, pointing out the need to monitor seismic activity in the North Aegean.

Seismic activity in this zone remains at the center of the interest of the Geodynamic Institutes and Scientists, as it is one of the most powerful and active seismic faults in the wider area.
