The renewal of the Indigo Albufeira Hotel, now reopens under the IHG brand insignia, has preserved its original structure, giving the four -star hotel unit a new soul at the same time.
The new decoration has as its great inspiration the Algarve, highlighting the blue of the sky and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the terracotta tones that honor the reefs and corals. In the rooms, elements such as handcrafted macramés, shells and wavy shapes are part of the decoration, reflecting maritime references that extend to the exclusive outer pool for guests, located on the sixth floor.
The engaging leisure zone offers 40 sun loungers and nets that evoke fish traditions, but invite to rest, complemented by sea star-shaped pillows. In the immediate vicinity, the 70 seat bar is open from 11:00 to 22:30, ensuring continuous service for guests, who can still use room service, whether for light or more complete meals.
Inside, the welfare space includes pool, water circuit and spa, where treatments are based on local ingredients. Algarve oranges are used in both essential oils and orange flower tea that make up the welcome ritual, while Tavira’s sea salt and the Atlantic algae are an integral part of the therapies offered.
“As it is practical in this IHG brand, we sought to reinforce the connection to the community surrounding this unit, which was already of great recognition in the region. By the location of the hotel, very close to the beach, the stay already provided a strong relationship with the Algarve nature, but we also wanted to score the experience inside all the spaces, making it more engaging,” explains João Figueira, director of Operations and Business Development.
Acquired by the Mercan Properties group, the, represented an investment of 13 million euros in 2024 and marks the first venture in the Algarve to be managed by AHM. The reopening of the unit allowed the creation of 29 direct jobs, reinforcing the group’s bet in the hotel sector of the Algarve region.
“The Algarve is one of the most recognized Portuguese tourist regions, with great potential for attracting national and international audiences. These factors have reinforced our ambition to act in the Algarve, bringing the experience gained over several years in the management of hotel and restoration concepts in the North and Alentejo region,” says Mariano Fazs, CEO of AHM, the company of the Mercan Group responsible for hotel management.
