The US has imposed sanctions on the Iranian tycoon Emamjome, who allegedly exported oil products worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

On Wednesday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned new sanctions by the United States aimed at the Network of Oil Companies and described them as a “enemy approach” before the planned third round of the Tehran nuclear program. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

A spokesman for the Iranian diplomacy department, Esmáil Bakáji, said in a statement that US policy of imposing sanctions on the Iranian people is “a clear contradiction with the United States’ demand for dialogue and negotiations and suggests goodwill and seriousness of American in this matter”.

The US Treasury on Tuesday imposed sanctions on Iranian magnate Sysamy Assadullah Emamjome. According to the US, its network of companies is focused on the transport of Iranian liquefied oil gas (LPG) and oil abroad worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

“Emamjome and its network tried to export thousands of LPG shipments – also from the United States – to avoid US sanctions and get revenues for Iran,” said US Finance Minister Scott Bessent. He added that the US is still determined to infer responsibility towards those who seek to provide the Iranian regime with the funds necessary for its “destabilizing activities in the region and around the world”.

Background of negotiations

The US has imposed the latest sanctions at the time of US-Iranian talks on Tehran nuclear program. The second round of these negotiations took place on Saturday in Rome and both sides described them as constructive.

US President Donald Trump has re -introduced extensive sanctions under his policy of “maximum pressure” against Iran, which he was already promoting during his first term, after his return to the White House.

Challenge for new interviews

In March, he sent the Iranian supreme leader Ajatollah Ali Khamenei a letter in which he called for new talks and threatened military intervention if diplomacy fails. It emphasizes that the main goal is to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.

The third round of interviews is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 in the Omani mask.
