Having your own fruit is undoubtedly great. But you will have to take care of the tree and the care begins with the choice of the right place for planting. Where does not go?

Are you planning to bet a fruit tree?

It is commonly recommended to plant trees and shrubs rather autumn, but even in spring it is possible to plant trees. In the case of fruit trees, you will most often learn about how to take care of them – fertilize, water or prune them. But do you know where you should not bet? Enthusiastic gardeners often make these 5 bugs in planting.

If you buy a beautiful and strong seedlings, it is basically just a simple trunk with a few twigs. When choosing it is primarily important to look at the root pack, it much rather than the crown will reveal whether the seedlings are in good condition. Although, of course, both play a role. The roots and crown should be thought about during planting, because here they will grow, and if you do not seem to you now, in the future they will interfere with their surroundings.

You can learn what the planting of the tree in practice should be learned in this post from the YouTube channel Vlasta Verbíková.

Why not lay down to a wall or compost?

Fruit trees should not be planted along fences, walls and buildings. This is simply because the roots and crown need enough space. The tree needs to be well sunlit from all sides, and aerated crown is also ideal if you decide to grow fruit trees in the usual way.

The exception is the blockage of trees, which requires professional guidance, cut and shaping branches flat directly on the wall. In any case, you have to count on the development of roots that can disrupt the construction in your area.

It is similar to planting trees near composts, septic tanks or fertilizes. Not only various pathogens but also pests can spread from these places. You certainly don’t want to have damaged roots. Although compost or fertilizes can contribute to the tree with nutrients, but even here pests may appear on organic residues that have not yet been sufficiently processed by the thermal phase of the compost.

Note the terrain before planting

It is also necessary to choose a planting place according to the terrain, respectively. Depending on how water is retained in your garden. Permanently waterlogged or clay areas are not suitable for planting. It may seem that thanks to these humid corners of the garden could benefit the tree, but it is not quite true. The plant, besides strictly water, does not want to stand in the water. The roots should not access oxygen and rot quickly. At the same time, excessive humidity helps fungal disease.

Beware of places where old and sick trees had grown. In these places, the remains of trees and especially their root system, which slowly rot and decreasing can change the soil structure.

If there was a sick tree at this point, it is possible that pathogens that have caused the destruction of the tree still survive in the soil. If this place is still suitable for planting, experts recommend waiting for several years or replace the soil to a depth of at least 60 cm.

Do you bet outside the plot?

Experts point out that it is also necessary to take into account which ecosystem we plant. The garden is one thing, the other landscape. Disruption of the ecosystem by inappropriate planting can do a lot of damage. It is necessary to consider the type of tree, local conditions and the impact that a tree can have on its surroundings.

For example, in the Czech Central Mountains, the ecosystem was impaired by planting inappropriate trees. Fruit trees created such inhospitable conditions that they led to the retreat of the original flora, which was definitely not the intention. The idea is certainly good, but the design proved to be extremely problematic.
