delightful with their huge, fragrant flowers. To enjoy their beauty every year, it is worth paying them some attention and ensuring proper care throughout the season. Spring is a key period for peony, when they come to life after winter rest and prepare for flowering, then it is worth ensuring proper fertilization.

Why don’t peonies bloom? Principles of care, thanks to which peony will bloom

Peonies usually do not bloom in the first year (although this is not a rule), after planting, it happens that they behave similarly in the second year. However, if they do not bloom in the third either, you need to think about whether we have made a mistake associated with choosing the position and planting the plant itself. Peony is a plant that likes warmth and sun. If we plant it in a shady position, the result may be a lack of flowering. One of the most common mistakes, however, is how to plant this plant. If the peony does not bloom despite the sunny position and supporting its various types of nutrients, the reason may be too deep to place it in the ground. Peonies should be planted shallowly. In addition, bushes tend to grow, so they cannot be planted too close together. The plant must have space. Peony grows well and produces a lot of flowers if it is planted in slightly sour and compact soil. In autumn it is good to feed the plants with manure. In turn, the end of summer is a good time to replant peonies that do not bloom. We exaggerate and plant them in the second half of August or early September. If we do it later, we have to reckon with the fact that flowering may also be later next year. It is important, however, to put tubers in the ground long before frosts. Plants must root well to strengthen before it grabs the frost. According to more superstitious gardeners, peonies must be planted on September 1, thanks to which they will bloom abundantly. When the date is not preserved, there is a risk that you will have to wait a few years for flowers. So much when it comes to superstitions. However, we must not forget that on hot days, we plant peonies in the evening.

Homemade fertilizer for flowering peony. Yeast will be useful

Homemade yeast fertilizer can be helpful when you want to mobilize peon peonies to flowering peonies. Yeast contains many valuable nutrients, such as B vitamins, amino acids and microelements that stimulate plant growth and flowering. In addition, yeast improves soil structure and increases its biological activity. The fertilizer is easy to prepare, just dissolve 100 g of fresh yeast in 10 liters of hot water. We leave such a mixture for an hour. Then dilute the solution with water in a 1:10 ratio (1 liter of yeast solution per 10 liters of water). Water the peonies with a yeast solution once every 2-3 weeks during the period of intensive growth and flowering.
