President went to dinner at the official residence of the Chamber and requested priority to the PEC of Public Security and the Income Tax Bill
The president (PT) met on the night of Wednesday (23.abr.2025) with the mayor, (Republicans-PB), and party leaders. The initial expectation of the dinner, at the official residence of the president of Casa Baixa, was to discuss what amnesty the prisoners of January 8, but the theme ended up in 2nd plan.
During the meeting, Lula said he was contrary to the granting of forgiveness to people who “Nor were they condemned”. The leader of the PL in the House, (RJ), articulator of the urgent request for the project, did not participate in dinner.
It was the first time, in his 3rd term, that the head of the federal executive attended a meeting at the official residence of the Chamber of the Chamber. The meeting is part of the Executive’s effort to strengthen dialogue with deputies, who have already criticized the distance from Planalto on priority themes of the house.
On April 2, Lula met with the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), and party leaders of Casa Alta. The meeting lasted 3 hours.
Dinner with Motta and the leaders had informal and relaxed tone. The leader of União Brasil in the House, (MA), said that the interaction with Lula was “pleasant”.
The congressman said that Lula tried “Break the weather”playing jokes, but avoided direct comments on the refusal of the nomination of União Brasil to the Ministry of Communications. According to governors, the impasse was resolved with the choice of Frederico de Siqueira Filho, president of Telebras, for the position.
During the dinner, the head of the federal executive asked PEC (proposal to amend the Constitution) of public security, Congress on Wednesday (23.abr), and to which the income tax for those who earn up to R $ 5,000 exempts.

AMNESTY
The urgency to the bill that amnesty those arrested for the acts of January 8 was filed on April 14 by the deputy (PL-RJ), with 264 signatures-the number of the absolute majority required (257).
If approved in plenary, the project may be voted at any time, without the need to go through the permanent committees.
During the president of Republicans (SP), Sostenes shared with allies his strategy to press Hugo Motta to guide the urgent request.
The deputy threatened to retain commission amendments – regulations usually distributed among parties – if the theme does not advance.
Internally Motta an agreement with the Supreme Court (STF) to review the penalties of the convicts as an alternative to the amnesty project.
