Deputy celebrated 53 years and launched a book with figures of the 3 powers; Rueda spoke about União Brasil and the government; Barroso sang sertanejo

The president of Republicans, federal deputy Marcos Pereira (SP), celebrated this Wednesday (23.abr.br.2025) his 53 -year anniversary, completed on April 4, with a party that brought together figures of power in Brasilia. The event, held at Espaço Alvorada, in a noble neighborhood of the city, had from the presence of former mayor Eduardo Cunha (Republicans-RJ) to the Supreme Court Dean (Supreme Court), Gilmar Mendes.

The party also served for Marcos Pereira to launch his book “The Unconstitutionality of Brazilian Laws: between causes and effects”. The mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), honored the chief. It was thanks to a maneuver of Pereira – that gave up running the presidency of the house in 2024 – which Motta won the election.

Motta was a short time at the party. He took the autograph of Pereira and went to the official residence of the House, where he would participate in a dinner with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).

The president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, was at the party in the midst of tension with the government, after the party leader, Pedro Lucas (MA), refuses the Ministry of Communications.

Allies, Rueda confirmed that the president of, Frederico de Siqueira Filho, will be appointed by the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), to command the ministry.

A few meters from the vice president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, the chief stated that Pedro Lucas’s refusal does not create a “Bad relationship” with the Planalto Palace.

The governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), who tries to put the support of his caption in his presidential candidacy, attended the party of Pereira. Rueda and Caiado exchanged hugs and shared the same photo.

To close people, the chief stated that a candidacy of União Brasil to the presidency in 2026 would be viable, but avoided responding if the name would be Caiado. Nor did I not want to talk about the possibility of the party to launch its own candidate, instead of supporting Lula’s reelection, and if it would cause friction with the government, as the acronym has another 2 ministers.

PL leader in the House, Gostenes Cavalcante (RJ), shared with allies his strategy to press Motta to urgently guide the bill that grant amnesty to the January 8 convicts. If approved in the plenary, the project may be voted at any time without the need to go through the commissions.

Ally of former President Bolsonaro, Cavalcante said that if Motta does not guide the amnesty, the PL will retain the commission amendments and will not divide them with the other parties of the House.

Behind the scenes, Motta has defended an agreement with the STF to review the penalties of the convicts, but both the court and the PL consider this possibility unlikely.
