O McDonald’s announced this Thursday (24) that will bring back his chicken strips after five years of absence in USA. From May 5, the network will start selling McCrispy Strips, which are strips of breaded chicken breast with a golden crispy coverage.
The strips are an extension of the network’s crispy chicken sandwich, its last permanent item on the menu, which McDonald’s began to sell by 2021 after a version of Popeyes explodes in popularity.
Chicken quickly became the favorite item in fast food menus by US consumers, placing McDonald’s in a difficult position.
McDonald’s chicken recipe was behind explosive chicken -focused sales such as Raising Cane’s, Wingstop and other new competitors such as Taco Bell, selling crispy chicken strips and nuggets.
O McDonald’S is also adding a new Creamy Chili sauce. The strips will be served in portions of three or four units, accompanied by other sauces, including Barbecue, Buffalo spicy and Ranch.
Chicken strips were removed from McDonald’s menus’S in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, in a broader reformulation of its menu to simplify operations. However, they were requested by fans, and McDonald’S announced his return on Thursday.
“Demand for chicken strips has been remarkable throughout the industry, so we knew we needed to deliver something so irresistible that it was waiting. We took our time, we heard our fans and created a product we knew they would want,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s director of marketing and customer experience’s, in a press release.
The addition of chicken strips means that McDonald’S is a step closer to Snack Wrap’s return – another item demanded by fans that should be released this year – because it uses the same chicken strip in its filling.
The return of McCrispy Strips can boost McDonald’s. The network has faced financial difficulties in the last year because customers consider their prices very high, which even forced it to add a new value menu. McDonald’S discloses its results on May 1st.
