It collected elements in searches and seizures held last month to find out in two offices of ministers of the (Superior Court of Justice).
The PF’s action was authorized by the Minister of (Supreme Federal Court).
The material under analysis refers to the inquiries of the operations, reported by STJ Minister João Otávio de Noronha, and Fames-19, who is under the responsibility of Minister Mauro Campbell. Ministers are not investigated for leaks.
Both operations deal with Tocantins authorities in the STJ. Maximus addresses suspicions of sales of court decisions at the Tocantinense Court of Justice, while on alleged state government deviations during the pandemic.
The PF investigates if information of this operations was leaked from STJ offices and reached the hands of some of the investigated.
In March, there was search and seizure in the room of Thiago Barbosa de Carvalho, nephew of Governor Wanderlei Barbosa (Republicans). At the time, he worked as an advisor to a Tocantins prosecutor. At the time, Thiago was arrested.

The search and seizure was authorized from a dialogue that Thiago had with Judge Helvécio Maia of the Tocantins Court of Justice, who was removed from the Court
The June 2024 dialogue had been recorded on the judge’s cell phone and obtained by the PF. In it, the governor’s nephew tells the judge that “there are some companions of ours in Brasilia, that they stay there 24 hours monitoring” investigations.
He tells the magistrate that he had information that there was an investigation that investigated judges of Tocantins that “even with the minister [João Otávio de] Noronha, and in turn there was an investigation on course against you, the staff will even give me the material I was interested in … Interested not in the interest of knowing, no, in the interest of warning you. “
Thiago also mentions an inquiry of number 1,650: “He was secret of justice in the STJ with [Mauro] Campbell, and I got access to him total, even passed … I put on the pen drive. I passed to Uncle Wanderlei [Barbosa]”.
Maximus and Fames-19 were only triggered two months after the conversation in August.
In order to open the investigation, the Federal Police classified the two excerpts from the dialogues as “worrying lines.”
He also said that from it, he extracted the conclusion “from the existence of an alleged criminal organism installed in Brasilia.”
According to the PF, in theory, this group was “composed of public servants and lobbyists (intermediaries), responsible for monitoring, passing on and most likely to market confidential information, encompassing – which is more serious – the sharing of documents inserted in the undergoing investigative processes in the STJ, including procedures that are under secret justice.”
Minister João Otávio de Noronha stated, in a statement, that he is unaware of allegations of leaks and will “ask the president of the STJ to determine the facts pointed out, so that the matter is clarified and eventual people involved are responsible”.
Minister Mauro Campbell, who is the current corregedor of the (National Council of Justice), said he would not make specific comments about the investigation touched by the STF.
Campbell, however, said that in June 2024 access to the 1.650 inquiry had already been granted to the defense of Governor Wanderlei Barbosa for more than a month-and that there was no information on the steps that gave rise to Operation Fames-19.
“In that investigation, there was no relief information about the progress of the investigation steps that were conducted in other cases,” said the minister, citing as he gave rise to Fames-19.
He stated that the governor did not take prior knowledge that he would be the target of search and seizure warrants.

Also sought, the Government of Tocantins informed, in the same way, that since April 2024 the governor “had been formally qualified in the Fames-19 inquiry with his lawyers, and since the date, regular access to the process through legal proceedings”.
He says he did not have access to privileged information. It also says it is not the target of the STJ data leaks investigation.
The defense of Thiago Barbosa and Judge Helvécio Maia were also sought, but did not speak.
