This is one of the favorite seasonal products of Poles – young cabbage, as soon as it appears in bazaars and in shops, immediately inspires to kitchen experiments. It is not surprising at all, because its taste is one of a kind. You can eat it in many ways – for example with smoked bacon and dill.
Although most people value young cabbage primarily because of its unique taste, it is worth knowing how healthy the vegetable is.
Above all Cabbage has little calories, but a lot of nutrients such as Vitamin C, K or vitamin B6. Cabbage is also rich in folic acid, fiber, potassium, calcium, iron and magnesium. The recipe for young cabbage with bacon is very simple. Prepare the following ingredients:
- 1 head of young cabbage,
- 500 g of smoked bacon,
- 2 medium onions,
- 1 tablespoon of flour,
- Salt, pepper,
- sugar,
- A bunch of dill.
Peel the cabbage from outer leaves. Then wash and chop it.
Put the finely chopped cabbage into the pot and pour 250 ml of boiling water, add a little salt and sugar. Cook on low heat.
Cut the bacon into cubes, peel and chop the onion.
Then fry the bacon in a frying pan, after a while add the onion and drain. Add bacon and onion to the cabbage, mix and simmer covered on low heat for about 40 minutes.
In a glass, mix the flour with a pinch of salt, also add a bit of cabbage liquid, mix. Then pour this mix into a pot with cabbage.
Add chopped dill to the cabbageseason with salt and pepper to taste, boil. Enjoy your meal.
