200 days from the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will take place in Brazil in November, the organizing committees had a balance of works in Belém, Pará. Parque da Cidade, where global negotiations will take place, already has 78% of the structures completed.
COP30 Extraordinary Secretary Valter Correia and State Committee chairman Hana Ghassan stressed that the city will be ready to receive 50,000 members of the international delegations.
“The works are strictly within the schedule so that COP is a major, inclusive event and the cesible to all,” says Hana.
In all R $ 4.5 billion in federal, state and municipal resources are being invested on 30 fronts of works for improvements in sanitation infrastructure, mobility and connectivity. According to Hana Ghassan, investments already generate 5,000 jobs and will benefit 900,000 people.
The City Park is the place where COP will gain the spaces of the green zone, social participation, and the Blue Zone, where negotiations occur. The first, is already with advanced works and is the responsibility of the organizing country, in this case Brazil. The Blue Zone will have the space given to the United Nations (UN), which will assemble the structure for COP30.
According to the state organizers, R $ 700 million were invested in the green zone infrastructure stage, with 230 thousand square meters, and another R $ 700 million will be destined to a new stage of works of the remaining space of 270 thousand square meters, which can only be completed after the end of the conference.

In the place, where the Aeroclube of Belém was once operated, more than 2,000 seedlings were planted, and the vegetation should reach 2,500 trees. The total area is also integrated with the Hangar Convention Center, already existing before the works.
In addition to the construction of Parque da Cidade, school reform works are in progress, where beds will be available for accommodation; a port for transatlantic access, which will also serve as a hosting; Road infrastructure and macrodrainage services, which will reach 13 channels of four watersheds.
Hosting
50 thousand beds will be available for COP. The private initiative is building three new hotels with over 500 beds and a real estate rental platform for season will be available in May. According to the COP Extraordinary Secretary, there is an open dialogue with the state’s stay associations so that there is no abusive price practice for the COP30 period.

According to Valter Correia, the Civil House also signed an agreement with the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), in the amount of R $ 263 million, for modeling, planning and management of operations with companies that will make two transatlantic for accommodation available. Of this amount, the federal government will pay $ 30 million and the rest will be covered by the sale of the booths.
