The deputy (without party-RJ) had his term revoked on Thursday (24), by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies. According to a document signed by the mayor, (Republicans-PB), and other members of the Board of Directors, the loss of the term of office of Deputy João Francisco Inácio Brazão was motivated by his absences in the sessions of the house.
Brazão has been under arrest since March last year, accused of being one of the principals of the murder of (PSOL) and driver Anderson Gomes. The decision was published in today’s edition of the Official Gazette. The document declares “the loss of the elective mandate of Deputy João Francisco Inácio Brazil for framing in the hypothesis provided for in Article 55, III and § 3 of the Constitution”, which deals with the criteria of frequency to parliamentary sessions.
Chiquinho Brazão and his brother, Domingos Brazão, advisor to the Rio de Janeiro State Court of Auditors, were arrested on March 24. The House of Representatives confirmed the arrest of Chiquinho in a vote held in April. In August last year, the Ethics Council approved an opinion recommending the revocation of its mandate, but the report was never taken to the vote in the plenary.
The decision that officialized the loss of mandate was also signed by the first vice-mayor, Altineu Cortes (PL-RJ); the second deputy, Elmar Nascimento (Union-BA); the first secretary, Carlos Veras (PT-PE); the second secretary, Lula da Fonte (PP-PE); the third secretary, delegate Katarina (PSD-SE); and the fourth secretary, Sergio Souza (MDB-PR).
