Ecuador’s coast hit 6.3 magnitude earthquakes on Friday morning, reported USGS Geological Service. The shocks were reportedly felt in the capital Quito, a few tens of kilometers east of the coast, according to AFP report.
The earthquake epicenter was located near the coastal town of Esmeraldas at a depth of approximately 35 kilometers. AFP reporters informed that the shocks felt around 7.00 am local time (14.00 CET).
Without victims and damage
No victims or serious damage have been reported immediately. The Ecuadorian authorities have also stated that there is no risk of tsunami tsunami.
AFP recalls that Ecuador is located in one of the geologically active zones on Earth, and earthquakes are thus relatively common in the country.
