The only candidate for the national presidency of Recife, defends the maintenance of how the deputy (PT) in 2026 and projects the increase of right -wing radicalism in legislative positions.
“It is a clear and unified position within the party [o PSB na vice de Lula]with the priority of the maintenance of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin in a presidential plate, “he said on Thursday (24) when participating in a cycle of lectures from the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation in São Paulo.
For the mayor, who if he is acclaimed president at the end of next month, the scenario in 2026 will be of greater political polarization and less depth of the debates.
As an example, he cited heated discussions on identity policies that oppose right and left opponents: “They are legitimate positions, but they do not represent any of the biggest problems in the areas they are directly linked.”
“The next election will be very difficult, where we have a trend, especially in Parliament, of increased radicalism and a more right -facing position. We will still have an electoral cycle, in 2026, much based on this shrler and less profound dispute. This hinders consensus a lot,” he said.
According to him, political extremism can help strengthen his party, which he classified as center-left, as he represented an alternative to polarization and what he called the “very pragmatic center”, referring to the center’s parties. Nevertheless, he denied it an indirect to the Lula administration.
“Of course President Lula needs to build a path that guarantees governability, that he can build approvals and have a base of support in Congress, but what is the challenge? The timing of the election is coming and many of those who supposedly help in governability may not be with him [Lula] In the election, then you create a dysfunction. Now it is not easy to solve either, because the government needs governability, “he said.
He said the federal government “does more than people realize that it does” and that it is necessary to have the ability to show this to the voter. The speech occurred amid the criticism that the Lula government has suffered.
Campos did not cite any specific case, and questioned about the (Brazil-MA Union) to command the Ministry of Communications, 12 days after being announced in office, said that “each party has its internal dynamics” and that there is “a lot of variable at stake to make a decision”.
The mayor also evaluated that Brazil is inserted in a scenario of world instability in the face of the growth of far -right movements and commercial disputes, especially promoted by US President Donald Trump, to which he called “economic bullying.”
“The scenario of instability is installed worldwide, liberal democracies, great democracies, scenarios of war on continents until many decades not seen, religious instability, politics, full level of intolerance in various spheres beyond politics,” he said.
