Most Portuguese continue to want more stability and fewer negotiations in Parliament: 58% prefer absolute majority.
According to the latest ICS/ISCTE for Expresso/SIC, 58% of respondents manifest preference for an absolute majority.
It is the highest percentage since this question began to be placed in the ICS/ISCTE barometers. In 2019 and at the end of 2023, the trend was oppositewith clear rejection of the absolute majorities.
In December 2021, on the eve of the legislatures that would give the victory to António Costa, only 40% of respondents wanted an absolute majority. Today, this number rises to 58%, while 33% continue to prefer a configuration without clear majority.
A Democratic Alliance (AD) leads voting intentionsAccording to the first part of the survey before, but it is far from ensuring an absolute majority. Even with the 4% attributed to the liberal initiative, it does not reach the necessary threshold.
The only majority possible, for now, would require the support of the arrival – a hypothesis that continues to be rejected by most voters, and last night, by Luís Montenegro.
When asked who they believe they will win the elections – regardless of their voting intent – 39% pointed to AD, while 23% indicated the PS, which may appeal to the useful vote.
