Ticks are parasites, feeding on the blood of mammals, birds and reptiles. They occur in forests, but also in gardens with a lot of bushes. They appear in Poland in spring, at the turn of March and April. Check how to chase them out of our area and thus avoid their attack.
They detect their hosts with sensitive chemical receptors placed on the legs. Their bite is painless, so it’s hard to get immediate reaction.
After coming from the court, we should carefully see our body. Too late detection of a tick leads to the development of dangerous diseases, i.e. boleriosis or tick -borne encephalitis. In the first case, serious neurological, joint and heart problems may occur, while in the second to permanent damage to the nervous system.
What’s more, the tick development cycle consists of several stages: first a larva hatch from the egg, which then transforms into a nymph, and ultimately into an adult – at each of these levels, the arachnid can be a carrier of pathogenic microorganisms.

It is a good idea to set a breeding booth or a feeder that will encourage these animals to visit more frequently. Birds, looking for food, will search plants and lawns, eating ticks, but also mosquitoes or flies.
This method is becoming more and more popular because it is effective and does not require large financial outlays. What’s more, it does not harm the environment, thanks to which it is a great alternative to chemical protection measures. It is a friendly nature way to limit the number of arachnids in the environment.
We will drive ticks out of the garden if we plant plants that deter them. For example Arachnids do not tolerate the smell of aromatic herbsi.e. basil, rosemary, mint, thyme or lavender.
We don’t only need to plant herbs. Ticks also hate the fragrance of specific ornamental plants. I am talking about Pysznogłówka, Geranium or Roses. It is worth considering planting in places where we are most often staying, i.e. near the terrace, gazebo or playground for children. This is a simple and ecological way to increase garden safety.
