Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, has assured that Donald Trump raised the possibility that Canada became the 51st state of the United States during a phone call on March 28. “The president says many things, but the essence of the discussion and where we had the conversation was exactly what I said,” said Carney this Thursday in a campaign act.
When in March he was asked about the conversation, the Canadian prime minister did not refer to that offer, but assured that Trump had “respected Canada’s sovereignty both in his private and public comments” and just described the tone of conversation as “cordial” and “positive.”
