The former president said on Friday (25) had no illness and do not use medicine continuously, thus contradicting his lawyers.

They stated, in order to be transferred to house arrest, that he is treated against Parkinson’s disease, severe sleep apnea and bipolar affective disorder.

Medical certificate attached to the petition also says that the former president uses medications daily and needs periodic medical visits.

The defense also argued that 75 -year -old Collor has an advanced age and does not pose a risk to public order and that there is no possibility that he will repeat offenses that he is accused.

At the custody hearing, held around 11:30 am, an auxiliary judge of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case at the Supreme Court (STF), formulated the following question: “Do you have any disease? Do you use medicine continuously?” The former president replied, “No.”

He also stated that.

After the hearing, Moraes decided that Collor should be arrested in a special wing of Baldomero Cavalcanti Oliveira Prison in Maceió.

“In the face of his condition of former President of the Republic, I note that serving the sentence in the special wing of said prison should be in individual cells,” the minister said in the order.

Moraes gave 24 hours to the prison’s management inform the Supreme if it is totaling the health of the former president.

In a statement, the government of Alagoas said it is taking “all necessary measures to comply with the decision.”

Collor arrived at the prison at around 2:30 pm after taking a crime body at the IML (Forensic Medical Institute). Earlier, in the federal police jail, an examination even detected high blood pressure, according to the report.

The STF minister also asked the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) to express its own on the request for house arrest.

Discussions about the place of Collor detention involve even a calculation of the creation of more precedents about the eventual destination of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), if the Supreme Court determines its arrest for attempted coup. PF prefers that if this occurs, it is not detained in its premises.

Collor’s defense said on Thursday night he received “with surprise and concern the decision” of Moraes that led to the prison of the former president. The lawyers held the Supreme Court that the accusations are based only on award -winning allegations and that there would be no evidence.

The lawyer Marcelo Bessa, defender of the former president, said Collor could not be arrested before the case (res judicata), citing a decision of the minister who would deal with Moraes’s decision.

The accusation

Collor. He was accused of receiving bribes from a scheme from BR Distribuidora, a subsidiary company of Petrobras, in a criminal action derived from. Proofs found in the donor’s office in addition to testimonials from employees of the operation, were used as evidence in the action.

The complaint was filed by the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) in August 2015.
