Trump’s words come shortly after meeting the Ukrainian President before Pope Francis’ funeral
United States President Donald Trump threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin today, with new sanctions, because “many people are dying” in Ukraine and the situation makes him “perhaps” Russia “doesn’t want to stop war.”
“There was no reason for Putin to shoot missiles against civilian areas, cities, and villages in recent days. This makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop war and just play with me, and then we need to do something else,” said the US President in a publication on his Truth social network.
This publication was shared after participating in Pope Francis’ funeral at the Vatican, where before the ceremony, Trump had a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which resulted in a positive exchange, according to both sides.
“Many people are dying !!!”, emphasized Trump, in the publication on his social network.
Condemning Russian attacks against civilian populations, the president of the United States pointed out the possibility of threat with new measures, considering two alternative options: reaching the banking system and reinforcing the already significant sanctions against Russia.
However, Moscow also reported that the Russian President told Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff during Friday’s meeting that he was ready to negotiate the result of the conflict in Ukraine “without any preview.”
