Yesterday, the Mass was held yesterday in honor of Pope Francis. The Bishop of Porto, D. Manuel Linda, evoked the Pope’s legacy on a symbolic day to Portugal: Freedom Day.
The Cathedral was filled with faithful with various nationalities to pay tribute to the “Pope of all”, in a ceremony that was also a moment of reflection on the barriers that Francis helped to overthrow.
During the suffrage Mass, the Pope’s defense of freedom was remembered throughout his pontificate, and the hope that his successor will follow the same line of openness and proximity.
The celebration took place on the eve of Francisco’s funeral, joining faith and memory in a moment of deep emotion in the city of Porto.
