The 1st Panel of the (Supreme Federal Court) sentenced this Friday (25.ab.2025) the hairdresser Débora Rodrigues dos Santos to 14 years in prison for 5 crimes. The 39 -year -old woman cheered with lipstick the statue “The Justice”, in front of the court’s headquarters in Brasilia, on January 8. He wrote “Lost, Mané” –Reference to one by Roberto Barroso, president of the Supreme, in 2022.
Most of the condemnation occurred, which diverged from, who proposed 14 years in jail to the hairdresser. Fux suggested that the penalty was 1 year and 6 months and Cristiano Zanin, 11. Flávio Dino and Cármen Lúcia aligned with Moraes.
Here’s the crimes for which Débora Rodrigues dos Santos was convicted:
- Armed criminal association;
- Violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law;
- coup d’etat;
- Damage qualified by violence and serious threat, using flammable substance, against the union’s assets and with considerable damage to the victim; and
- DECLARED OF HERITAGE.
In order of voting, this is what the ministers suggested:
- Alexandre de Moraes (Rapporteur) – condemn 14 years in prison;
- Flávio Dino – condemn 14 years in prison;
- Luiz Fux – condemn 1 year and 6 months in prison;
- Cristiano Zanin – condemn 11 years in prison;
- Cármen Lúcia – Condemn 14 years in prison.
The hairdresser was denounced by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) by the same crimes that are to the former president (PL) and the other 33 accused of attempted coup d’état in 2022.
Vot of Fux and Zanin
In his vote, Zanin stated that the crimes attributed to the hairdresser are “Much more” than to have a statue bite. For him, the “Guilt, motives, circumstances and consequences” crimes should be considered. Unlike the ministers, Luiz Fux argued that the woman should be convicted only of the crime of deterioration of the overturned heritage, since there is only evidence that she peppered the statue in front of the STF and was in the Praça dos Três Powers, in Brasilia, without having entered the headquarters of the buildings. The minister had suspended the trial in a virtual session of the 1st class of the Supreme Court 1 month ago, on March 24. Therefore, it was the 1st to vote this Friday (25.abr). During the trial that the magistrate said he would review the sentence of 14 years in prison by Moraes.
“I confess that I, on certain occasions, come across an exacerbated penalty. And that’s why I asked for a view of the case. I want to analyze the context in which this lady [Débora Rodrigues dos Santos] it was”He said at the time.

According to Moraes, the images of the accused by banging the statue “The Justice” prove “Activates contribution from Débora Rodrigues dos Santos in undemocratic acts” who had as its purpose “To abolish the Democratic Rule of Law and testify the government legitimately constituted”. In this case, according to the minister, criminal liability can be shared, even though the entry of Deborah has not been proven in the headquarters of the three powers.

Understand the case
Débora Rodrigues dos Santos became a defendant for the 1st class of the STF on August 9, 2024, unanimously. The same collegiate now analyzed his conviction. The class is formed by Moraes, Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin, Cármen Lúcia and Luiz Fux.
The woman had been preemptively arrested since March 17, 2023, by order of Moraes. On March 28, Minister Alexandre de Moraes had her fulfilled, after PGR.

She was arrested by the (Federal Police) NA, which targeted the participants of the acts of January 8, 2023. At the time, protesters deprecated the headquarters of the three powers in Brasilia.
During the extremist acts, Deborah was photographed by baking the statue in front of the STF. According to the defense, she had only a lipstick to do the graffiti.
