The president of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, held a brief meeting this Saturday prior to the funeral of Pope Francis, To which both have come, as Zelenski spokesman, Serguí Nikiforov, told the Ukrainian public agency.
The encounter between the two occurs at a time of tension and key to the conflict, in full round of negotiations and after Trump’s harsh words, in which he recognized and justified the Russian control of Crimea.
Zelenski has attended Rome this morning, along with his wife Olena Zelenski. While Trump landed in kyiv last night with his wife, Melania Trump, which, curiously, turns years this Saturday.
