United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent asked the Asian Development Bank president Masato Kanda, who adopts “concrete measures” to end the loans to China, the Treasury Department said on Friday.
“Secretary Bessent asked President Kanda to take concrete measures to put China a clear way to graduate loans and emphasized the bank’s work value in best value -based acquisition practices,” the department explained.
The Treasury also provided more information about the current tariff negotiations, stating the secretary was encouraged by the “productive” commercial conversations with Japan and South Korea this week.
In addition, Bessent met with the governor of Banco da England (Boe), Andrew Bailey, to discuss “financial markets and the regulatory environment”.
