Jordan Bardella is considering presidential candidacy in 2027 if Marine Le Pen is not able to run for a court ban.

Jordan Bardella, chairman of the French opposition party, admitted to La Parisien on Saturday that he could run in the following presidential elections in 2027. This is reported by Reuters, TASR writes.

Le Pen has already stood three times in the presidential election. She finished third once and defeated the current President Emmanuel Macron twice in the second round.

However, the fourth candidacy of the politician was banned by a court that sentenced her at the end of March for the embezzlement of the EU funds. In addition to the prohibition to apply for public office for five years, it ordered two years in prison unconditionally with the possibility of serving his sentence using an electronic bracelet and payment of a fine of EUR 100 000. It appealed against the judgment and the court of higher instance could decide in the summer of 2026.

Considers her to be innocent

Reuters recalls that 29-year-old RN Bardella leader has avoided questions about the possibility of his participation in the upcoming elections. “I think that if she could prevent her candidacy tomorrow, I could tell you that I will run,” he told La Parisien’s daily. He stressed, however, that his candidate is currently Le Pen.

“Marine is considered innocent and we will continue to use all possible means to declare our innocence in this matter,” he said.

Despite its young age, the French Constitution of Bardell allows you to run. Every citizen over 18 years of age in France has the right to apply for the highest state office.
