Porto is one of Iran’s main ports. The explosion was on Saturday (26.ab.2025). The impact burst windows, pulled roofs from nearby buildings and destroyed cars.
According to a representative of the Hormozgan Province Crisis Management Sector, where Porto is located, 2/3 of the injured already left hospitals. The rest remains in treatment.
Aerial images showed that there were at least 3 flames. Iranian interior minister Eskandar Momeni said the fire had spread from one container to another.
The exact cause of the explosion is not known. But customs employees released a statement, quoted by Iranian state TV, saying that it was probably caused by a fire started in a storage deposit of hazardous and chemical materials.
